Rivers Edge Golf Club is located in Shallotte, NC in the farthest northern reaches of the Grand Strand. Opened in 1999 and it is an Arnold Palmer Signature course that is particularly popular among local players as well as vacation visitors. It is also considered one of the best-value courses in the area, with well-kept bentgrass greens and one of the most spectacularly scenic golf courses in the Myrtle Beach area.
As previously stated, Rivers Edge is acclaimed not only for quality of design and challenge but for the tremendous natural beauty of its setting. Set on a bluff by a river, six of its holes enjoy breathtaking views over coastal marshes fed by the Atlantic Ocean. The rest of the course bears all the Palmer hallmarks: elaborate bunkering, elevated greens and extensive mounding creating challenging lies while rewarding quality shotmaking. The most notable hole is the 9th, a 570-yard par five. It is one of the aforementioned spectacular marshside holes, a true three-shot hole with wetlands all down the left. The approach shot is played to a long, narrow green that juts out into the hazard, buffeted by a constant breeze. Unlike many par fives where birdie is easily attainable, the 9th is one where making par is a feat to be celebrated.
Off the course at Rivers Edge, golfers have access to well-appointed facilities. A practice putting and chipping green and grass driving range are available on-site for pre- and post-round practice sessions. The staff at Rivers Edge is also available to organize golf outings, from a small-scale gathering to a full-field corporate day.
